William Wegman Solo Exhibition

CHANG ART is pleased to announce the opening of an exhibition of American artist William Wegman from March 20 to May 2, 2010. Renowned for ‘Man with the dogs’, Wegman is a painter, a video artist and a photographer, and this exhibition will be featuring his celebrated troupe of Weimaraners to capture the attention of curators, collectors and critics as well as the general public. Also this exhibition will include his new series of photography, postcard paintings which is enlarged drawn from postcards plus his famous video works – Alphabet Soup, The hardly boys, Video works 1970 ~ 1999. Always taken seriously by the cognoscenti, but never taking himself seriously, Wegman, over the past 40 years, has created a body of work that appeals to both the most conceptually-minded viewer as well as someone who just likes a good joke. The subject of countless museum and gallery exhibitions around the world, Wegman has also produced work for the general viewer, as seen on America’s Saturday Night Live and Sesame Street. Using the simplest of media, Wegman’s work reaches out to an audience ranging from the littlest toddler to the oldest contemporary art specialist. Wegman’s work can be found in the collection of major museums in U.S. such as Museum of Modern Art, New York, The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Brooklyn Museum, New York, Museum of Fine Art, Houston as well as Australian National Gallery, Canberra, F.R.A.C.
