A Taste of Red by 5th Wall
A Taste of Red is the latest performance offering from the international collaborative performance company Fifth Wall. As part of Shanghai’s 2010 Jue Music and Arts Festival, the show will be performed at the River South Arts Centre on Saturday March 20th-Sunday March 21st at 5pm. Following the success of last year’s Marriage Counseling–A Taste of Red is a multi-media performance installation through which a story is told. Utilising synaesthesia as a structural theme (in which multiple senses are triggered as an audience experience), the narrative of the last moments of a woman’s life is juxtaposed against the narrative of a rapidly changing city. Body parts frame falling skylines; movement fragmentation becomes representative of an urban disintegration; crumbling dust falls across the performance space in an ever-shifting environment. Emotions are coloured with red, blue, yellow and shades in between….a taste of blood lingers in the air. Collaborating artists on the project include: Michael Ouyang (film director), Tina Blakeney (video artist), Raphael Valensi (sound artist), Maria Miklowski (installation artist), Charlie Mayer (actor) and Jenevieve Chang (performer and choreographer). |
